With over twenty years focused on high end custom residential design, she knows what questions to ask, enabling her team to better understand each client’s goals for their home. By listening to those needs and desires, and responding in a timely way, the A+R design team establishes trust and communication as the foundational bedrock of the designer/client relationship. New Construction Projects
Full Service Interior Design + Project Management
Are you building a new home? The A+R design team often takes on new construction projects, working collaboratively with the client, architect, builder and trades from conception through to completion. This may include introducing you to builders and architects in our area who have the skills and experience to execute the architectural style you’re looking for, or we may be working with the builder and architect you have already established relationships with.
New construction projects can take multiple years from the identification of suitable property, through design revisions on the architecture and then to finalize interior details and selections. Our team works as your guide through the new construction process, providing project management services along the way. Services offered for new construction projects include:
- Introductions to local architects and builders (assembling the team)
- Collaborating with the architect on the preliminary design details, interior space planning and cabinetry design
- Reviewing the plans to ensure proper room sizing for the usage of each room and furniture layouts in each space
- Selection and specification of architectural fixtures and finishes attached to the house (appliances, plumbing, cabinetry, tile, countertops, stone, wood flooring, wall finishes, decorative lighting, door and cabinet hardware, shower doors, bathroom mirrors, motorized shades) that the builder will procure and install
- Prepare drawings and selections schedules for all of the above mentioned selections
- Prepare elevations and 3D models as needed to convey design intent. Prepare documents the builder can price from and that the subcontractors can install from
- Act as your eyes and ears onsite, and collaborate with the architect, builder and trades throughout the construction process
- Check quotes against our designs to ensure compliance with the design intent, and review any potential value engineering options with each subcontractor
- Selection and procurement of furniture and decor suited to the architecture, and your individual lifestyle needs
- Incorporate your existing furniture, antiques, artwork and accessories into the interiors for a cohesive look and feel with the architecture and new furniture/decor purchases
- Work with local furniture makers and NC + SC based manufacturers, as well as local craftspeople
- We are onsite during the installation/delivery of furniture/decor to put the house together including making beds, hanging artwork and collaborating with professional organizers if needed for your personal items

Home Renovation / Addition

We have established relations with area architects, builders, and tradespeople and can help you build a team to handle these renovations on your behalf. Services for this type of project typically include the following:
- Tour the property and discuss your needs, goals and vision for the furniture/decor or other updates (paint, wallcovering, decorative lighting, area rugs, furniture, artwork, etc)
- Prepare a Scope of Work document for each room, to reference with a general contractor or subcontractors throughout the project
- Introductions to local architects and builders (assembling the team)
- Prepare interior space planning drawings for each area being renovated/added on to the structure
- Reviewing the plans to ensure proper room sizing for the usage of each room and furniture layouts in each space
- Cabinetry design throughout the house, wherever cabinets are in need of replacement
- Design of custom features such as the entry door, fireplace wall, custom cabinetry or built ins, custom ceiling designs, and custom furniture/decor
- Selection and specification of architectural fixtures and finishes attached to the house (appliances, plumbing, cabinetry, tile, countertops, stone, wood flooring, wall finishes, decorative lighting, door and cabinet hardware, shower doors, bathroom mirrors, motorized shades) that the builder will procure and install

Limited Scope Interior Design + Project Management
Do you have an existing home or a new build “spec” home that primarily needs furniture and decor selections? Our team can help to personalize your new empty home, or update your existing furniture and decor. Not sure where to begin? We can help! Services offered for furniture and decor updates often include:
- Tour the property and discuss your needs, goals and vision for the furniture/decor or other updates (paint, wallcovering, decorative lighting, area rugs, furniture, artwork, etc)
- Prepare a Scope of Work document for each room, to reference with a general contractor or subcontractors throughout the project
- Introductions to local builders or tradespeople needed (assembling the team)
- Prepare a furniture plan drawing showing correct sizing and layout of all pieces, to ensure the proper fit and function for each room
- Prepare a furniture/decor budget for approval before we begin suggesting furniture vendors
- Do you need to “sit test” furniture before buying? If so, we can arrange tours of finished client home in the Asheville area, or take you on curated tours of our vendor’s showrooms in High Point, NC
- Work with local furniture makers and NC + SC based manufacturers, as well as local fabricators
- Prepare photo pages that show all selections, fabrics and finishes for each room
- Selection and procurement of furniture and decor suited to the architecture, and your individual lifestyle needs
- Propose, order, receive, inspect, store and then deliver and set up the new furniture and decor in your space
- Incorporate important personal pieces into the new interiors scheme such as your antiques, artwork and accessories into the interiors for a cohesive look and feel with the architecture and new furniture/decor purchases
